Inspiration is a priceless resource!

To Songwriters,

Inspiration is a priceless resource!

Never underestimate the importance of having an efficient system of capturing inspiration when it comes to you.

Inspiration is like a stream of flowing water.

You must have heard this saying before, "You never step into the same river twice", because the water is always in motion, flowing along its course- here today, there tomorrow. The only way to capture it is to trap it in a vessel, else it moves on, flowing along its course.

That's how inspiration works a lot of times.

It could come to you as a flash, an idea, a thought, a melody, a rhythm, a picture, an experience, etc. Don't take those little "magical" moments for granted. Great things can be birthed from such seemingly insignificant moments.

You must train yourself to recognize inspiration when it comes to you and build a system that helps you capture such inspiration, so you can develop it after.

inspiration

I've had firsthand experience with this. Most of the songs I've written "came" to me. I could just begin to sing a melody or a phrase or hear a rhythm and I just know immediately that that's a song!

I've learned not to ignore such moments. They don't announce their arrival and many times they don't seem like the potential they carry. I could be in a car, walking on the road, sitting in class, listening to a sermon, lying down on my bed or talking with a friend when the wind of inspiration blows my way. It requires sensitivity. I have learnt how to recognize such moments, capture and subsequently build on them.

That little tune that dropped in your heart could be a sound from heaven that has the potential of blessing millions of soul if only you know how to recognize and utilize it.
